Thanks for visitingI'm blessed to live on the east slopes of the Washington Cascades. It's less than a day's bike ride up to the rain-drenched forest crest, and roughly the same distance down to the sagebrush desert along the Columbia River. If you love diversity, and I do, it's one of many perfect places to live.
And on top of that, I have wonderful friends and family. Shouldn't there be a word for that? Frie-mily? Thanks friemily! You're the best! Love you, Nana, Baba, Sis, Raven, and the rest. The official bio:

For almost twenty years, I got paid to spend my days looking at rivers--sampling rivers, surveying rivers, floating rivers--even getting down inside and snorkeling rivers. Wow! Talk about fun. I'm convinced it's going to be the next eco-tourism.
Thanks beyond measure to Ana Maria Spagna, who inexplicably never gave up on me in my journey to become a writer. Kathleen Dean Moore's life and writing have been my profound inspiration, and her generous review lifted my writing to the next level. I am forever indebted to Northwest Institute of Literary Arts on Whidbey Island, to the Elizabeth George scholarship fund, and to Bruce Holland Rogers, David Wagoner, John Calderazzo, Brian Doyle, Dan Lehman, Kathleen Alcalá, Carmen Bernier-Grand, Bonny Becker, Carolyne Wright, Larry Cheek, Wayne Ude, Tess Gallagher, Pat Rutledge, Joe Mackall, Don Mitchell, Janet Buttenweiser, Derek Sheffield, Bren Carver, Erika Brumett, Deborah Nedelman, Stephanie Lile, Claire Gebben, Stefon Mears, Heather Durham, Sara Callor, Leslie Hill, Kim Lundstrom, Sandy Sarr, Leonie Mikele, Nadine Pinede, Jeremiah O'Hagan, Joe Ponepinto, Barbara Tennant, Shannon Haferman, and others too numerous to thank... you know who you are. All my love. Also to hundreds of writers I have never met, who showed me the path.
